Caramel Apple Cups

It all started when I saw an Instagram reel of what looked like an ingenious idea: caramel apple cups. It’s all the satisfaction of a caramel apple, with the ease of eating bite-size pieces of caramel apple goodness with a spoon!

Since it’s the final week we’ll be making caramel apples here, you just may want to save this recipe for the next time you get a craving for caramel apples!

I decided I had to try making these caramel apple cups, especially now that I have some really tasty Weaver’s Orchard apples on hand at home! They were an instant hit with my ever-hungry boys, so we’ve been eating them on repeat all week!

Stop by our farm market for caramel dip and apples to make these at home! Plus, you can find some topping ideas in our market too! I used chopped white chocolate, chopped nuts and granola. Yum!

What’s the best apple variety for caramel apples? It’s not always a simple answer! Everyone has their own preferences. Some prefer to pair a tart apple with a sweet apple. Personally, I like the balance of the sweet caramel and a tart apple. I tried these with different apples including Crimson Topaz, Cortland and Gala apples (for my kid who doesn’t love the tart apples!).

Crimson Topaz are my absolute favorite variety with their crisp, juicy, sweet-tart flavor. If you haven’t tried them yet, it’s definitely a must-try new apple variety! I wrote about them wayyy back in 2012 when they first debuted here, and since then, we’ve planted more trees and have them in our market and pick-your-own for much longer. Since they’re my favorite variety, I’ve bought them for a few of my friends and family as a hostess gift and the response is always “WOW that’s such a good apple!” So if you haven’t yet, I recommend giving Crimson Topaz a try!
