If you’re looking for an afternoon pick-me-up without refined sugar, a pear matcha smoothie is just the thing! It’s also the perfect shamrock-inspired drink that is totally healthy but still festive for St. Patty’s Day!
Matcha is finely ground green tea, and it is an easy mix-in for smoothies to add a little extra caffeine and antioxidant boost. Plus, it makes green smoothies an even prettier shade of green! You only need a little bit to do the trick — if you add too much it will make your smoothie too bitter. I prefer adding a tiny bit of sweetener to matcha smoothies, so I add a little drizzle of honey, just like I would in a cup of green tea.
For this smoothie I used pear, homemade plain yogurt, milk and Matcha powder. Then I sprinkled a little extra matcha powder on top and drizzled some honey over it just before drinking it. The result was a yummy snack to help me power through my afternoon!
