Lemon Ginger Tea

Tis’ the season for colds, coughs, and sniffles. I woke up this morning with the start of a sore throat, so it was perfect timing that I was planning to make this recipe today.

Whether you want to stave off an oncoming illness, or simply enjoy a comforting, hot beverage without any added caffeine, this lemon ginger tea  is perfect for these cold winter months.

It uses all-natural ingredients you can find in the farm market even though not much is growing outdoors during this season.

The ginger, honey, and lemon all have wonderful properties for supporting your immune system. As an added bonus, it tastes delicious too!

Lemon Ginger Tea

Time: 20 minutes

Makes two mugs

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups water
  • One lemon
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 inch of ginger root, peeled
  • 1/4 cup honey

Instructions

  1. Add the water to a medium saucepan. Zest the lemon until you have about two tablespoons. Add to the water and reserve the rest of the lemon for slices.
  2. Add the cinnamon sticks, peeled ginger root, and honey.
  3. Bring to a boil over medium heat and allow to simmer for 15 minutes until the water is tinged a slight yellow color.
  4. Strain through a fine mesh sieve into two mugs. Add a slice of lemon to each and enjoy!
