About the Project from Janell Weaver

Hi! I’m going to start by cutting to the chase: This fall we need to put $35,000 down on the 50 acres Weaver’s Orchard has rented for half a century – the same ground where so many of you have picked peaches, nectarines, plums, pears, early apples, strawberries, and, this year, flowers. We committed to buying it at the start of 2026. Then the April freeze hit our orchard hard, and we are asking the people who already love this place to help us close. 

Below are simple ways you can take part – by buying a gift card now, which becomes cash we can use for the down payment, with extra store credit for you and a few farm perks as our thank-you. We understand that this type of investment isn’t possible for everyone, and we are just as grateful for every customer that has visited us, every person who has told a friend about us, and every person who has like, shared, or commented on social media! Without you, we would not be able to serve our community and be stewards over our God-given land.

I’m Janell Weaver, fourth-generation owner-to-be, stepping into this role in our business as my parents Ed and Anne move toward semi-retirement (does a farmer ever really retire?) with my husband, Alfredo, beside me. We are humbled and proud to be entrusted with this endeavor.  

What’s the Investment For?

This section of land that most of our community know as belonging to Weaver’s Orchard has been rented to us by the family of famous author John Updike, who greatly value agriculture and have ensured that the land remains in agriculture through Pennsylvania’s Conservation program. We are grateful to the Updike family for entrusting us with the care of their land up until now and moving forward.

Details:

• Gift Cards can be used for purchases in our Market, at Kim’s Cafe, and in Pick-Your-Own.
• Depending on the level of gift card you purchase, you will receive a percentage of that total as a bonus returned to you on that gift card. Some tiers include additional ways we hope to honor you for your support.
• Bonus Fundraiser Gift Cards will be mailed to you after the ordering window closes on 10/25/2026. You can begin using this gift card at any time!

Bonus Fundraiser Gift Card Tiers:

1. $100: 5% Bonus (receive your gift card in amount of $105)
2. $500: 10% Bonus (receive your gift card in amount of $550)
3. $750: 10% Bonus (receive your gift card in amount of $825 AND receive a ticket to one of our 2027 Farm to Table Dinners)
4. $1,000: 10% Bonus (receive your gift card in amount of $1,100, Adopt-a-Tree, AND receive two tickets to one of our 2027 Farm to Table Dinners)

Adopt-a-Tree Details

• “Adopt” a Messina Yellow Peach or Honeycrisp Apple Tree for three years
• The tree’s row will be identified with a plaque with your name (or name/label of your choosing) for three years
• You will be notified when that tree’s fruit is ready and be able to pick from that tree before the general public (provided you are able to come within the 4-7 day window when variety is ripe enough for picking before the general public)
• You will be able to harvest one 1/2 bushel of fruit during each of the three years you adopt this tree – for a total of 1.5 bushels of fruit. The half bushels may not be collected in the same calendar year.
• The plaque and half bushel of fruit at no cost will be adopted by you for three years!
