Pear, Brie, and Goat Cheese Crostini
The combination of fruit and cheese remains a popular one, and for good reason. Whether on a charcuterie board or in a delicious grilled sandwich, people love how these flavors complement each other. These crostini bites present a unique spin on this favored pairing, using pear, goat cheese, and brie to make a delicious fall appetizer.
I love using honey goat cheese for this recipe since it balances perfectly with the stronger taste of the brie. This creamy cheese spread and the soft pear are the perfect toppings for the crunchy toasted baguette, and the presentation is simultaneously effortless and attractive. Sweetened with a drizzle of honey and garnished with a sprinkle of thyme, these simple but sophisticated hors d’oeuvres are sure to impress at your next autumn party. Try it today and let us know what you think!
Pears are in season now, with many available for pick-your-own. Enjoy them and try several varieties!

PrintPear, Goat Cheese & Brie Crostini
Time: 45 minutes (15 active)
Makes one nine-inch dish
Ingredients
- 4 oz honey goat cheese (or plain goat cheese and 2 tbsp of honey)
- 8 oz brie, with rind removed
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- Pepper to taste
- 4 tbsp olive oil, divided, plus more for garnish
- 1 loaf baguette
- 1 pear, sliced
- Fresh thyme, for garnish
- Honey, for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, add the goat cheese, brie, sour cream, pepper, and two tablespoons of olive oil. Mix well using a hand mixer on high speed. Alternatively, you could mix the ingredients in a food processor or with an immersion blender. Just make sure the ingredients are well combined and end up with a smooth creamy texture.
- Transfer the cheese spread into a bowl and top with thyme and a splash of olive oil.
- Cut the baguette on an angle in even slices. Drizzle the remaining two tablespoons of olive oil evenly over the pieces and toast in the oven at 400 degrees until lightly browned. Don’t overbake them or they will be too hard.
- Serve the crostini by layering a dollop of cheese mixture with a slice of pear, and top with a sprinkle of thyme and honey. Enjoy!
