There’s something about this time of year that invites you to slow down amidst the busyness and savor a quiet moment. I love to make a special cafe drink for these times, and this orange cardamom latte is a perfect option as we head into the holiday season.
Spiced, creamy, and sweet—it has everything you would want on a chilly winter day. The mixture of cardamom and orange is a timeless one, and sweetened with a little maple syrup, makes for a unique and delicious flavor palette.
Many specialty beverages require a lengthier process including making simple syrups, but with this quick recipe, you get amazing taste in the time it takes your coffee to brew.
Feel free to adjust the ingredients to your liking—try adding some white chocolate chips or swapping out the milk for your favorite non-dairy alternative. Give it a try the next time you’re craving a moment you can savor and let us know what you think!

Orange Cardamom Latte
Time: 5-10 minutes
Makes 1 latte
Ingredients
- 1/4 tsp of powdered cardamom
- 1 tsp of orange zest
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 shot of espresso (or freshly brewed coffee)
- 1 cup steamed milk
- More cardamom and orange to garnish
Instructions
- In the bottom of a mug, place the cardamom, orange zest, and maple syrup.
- Pull or pour the shot of espresso directly over top and whisk to combine. I use a moka pot to make my espresso, but you could also use a regular espresso machine or a freshly brewed cup of strong coffee—just make sure its very hot.
- Pour the steamed or frothed milk into the espresso, as much as you like, and garnish with more cardamom and orange zest. Stir and enjoy!
