Field Trip Tours Offered at Weaver's Orchard
Weaver's Orchard offers field trips of our farm. In the spring, our tours focus on planting and tour the fields as well as the market. Our fall tours focus on the apple harvest and tour the apple trees, cider press and farm market.
Fall Field Trips & School Tours
Elementary School Tour
The elementary school tour is a one hour tour of the orchard with a hike into the apple orchard. Your students will:
- Discover how apples form and grow.
- Learn about caring for the trees.
- Pick your own apple to take home with you.
- Visit the Packing House.
- Check out the cold storage area.
- Watch the sorting process the apples go through in preparation for marketing.
- Observe the commercial cider press.
- End the tour with a snack of fresh apple cider and pretzels.
Johnny Appleseed Preschool Tour
The Johnny Appleseed Preschool Tour is a one hour tour of the orchard and interactive cider press, designed especially for engaging the 5 senses of your preschoolers.We take a hike into the orchard, using our eyes to see the various colors of apples. As we talk about how apples grow students can feel the softness of an apple bud and the firmness of the apple they pick.
When we visit the warehouse, there are three learning stations. Your students willsmell the wonderful aroma of apples in the cold storage area. In our old barn, the students will take part in making cider the old-fashioned way – just like in Johnny Appleseed’s day. There are sounds of the farm all along the way! The tour concludes with tasting. A snack of our fresh apple cider and pretzels can be enjoyed on our picnic area at the end of your tour.
Fall Tour Pricing & Minimums
There is a minimum group fee of $60.00.
- Please be prepared to pay when you arrive, prior to your tour. Please pay for the group in full. We cannot accept personal checks from tour goers.
- Complimentary pass for one teacher per class/group
- Free cider for the bus driver
- Free parking is offered at our specific tour parking area including a separate parking area for school busses.
- Free picnic area is available upon request when scheduling your group.

On a SPRING TOUR, your group will:

- Play the "Bee Game"
- Take a hayride through the orchard
- Listen to a story about the orchard
- Receive a honey stick to take home
- Take home a flyer about upcoming events
Spring tours available in May and June.
On a SUMMER TOUR, your group will:
- Pick fruit in the orchard
- Play the "Bee Game"
- Take a hayride through the orchard
- Listen to a story about the orchard
- Receive a honey stick to take home
- Take home a flyer about upcoming events
