You can actually eat the flowers of pumpkin plants.

Pumpkin Picking Tips
- If a hollow sound is made when you drum on a pumpkin, then it is ready to be picked. Also check out the skin of the pumpkin. If it is hard when you press on it and almost feels like a shell it is ripe and ready
- Many of the leaves around the pumpkin will be a yellow-green color.
