The first step for framing out the tunnels was to drill the posts into the ground.

The next step is to drill the support legs for the posts around the perimeter of the entire tunnel system. We ran into trouble with this step due to rocky soil, and had to rent a jackhammer to break up the rocky soil.

The hoops are then placed on the posts, and the system is ready for plastic to be pulled over.

Finally, the plastic and bird netting are pulled over the hoops, and the cherry trees are prepared for protection from just about anything.

Skinning the Tunnels

First the plastic must be pulled out in the leg of
the row. We did this with a tractor after a few
attempts to do it by hand.

The plastic then had to be
pushed to the top of the hoops
and unfolded, working the plastic
down either side of the hoops.

The ends were clamped down
and the plastic pulled tight.

The plastic is then roped down securelyto prevent it from
catching the wind.
