Weaver's Orchard Mission & Values
We aim to serve our customers by creating an exciting family experience through selling quality products, educational experiences, wholesome entertainment and pick-your-own produce on the farm.
Our vision is to be a destination for wholesome family fun. We want our customers to experience the orchard and create long-lasting memories with their families. We take pride in growing quality fruits and vegetables that we sell directly to our customers in our market.
We grow our fruit with your health in mind, and we can assure you that it is safe! We are a family owned farm and strive to keep our family, our land and our community safe and healthy. In order ensure that we have a harvest every year and for years to come, we use a method called Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Organic farming uses many of the same concepts as IPM, however they are limited to using only organic chemicals. (Yes, even organic farming allows over 100 chemicals in production!)
The East Coast has some of the nation's most fertile land with warm summers, soaking rains and humid conditions. These conditions are also ideal for damaging mold and fungus to proliferate. We monitor all of our crops intently, looking for signs of disease, mold and insect presence. When control is needed, we always try to use low toxicity pesticides. Chemicals that are targeted toward mold and fungus are not killing a living organism, so they are not as potent. When we need to control a pest population, we use chemicals that are specifically targeted to one insect while being safe for beneficial insects, like our hives on honeybees.
Pennsylvania's climate is unfortunately not favorable for growing fruit 100% organically. We've seen several farms attempt organic fruit production and fail, forcing them to go out of business and sell their farms. We love our farm and we are so grateful for the opportunity we've had to farm it for four generations. We hope to keep on farming and serving you for years to come.
We are committed to selling you high quality, local foods from our own farm and other Pennsylvania farms whenever possible. When we cannot provide you with products grown on our farm, we first turn to farms in our immediate tri-county area.
It is our goal to provide products from other farms with the same values as us as far as quality and limited use of pesticides. We keep our shelves stocked with produce year-round, so when it is not available locally, we import only the highest quality produce from trusted sources.
